Functions and Duties of the InstitutionKamrup College is a premier higher education institution committed to delivering quality education for all. The College is affiliated to Gauhati University and it adheres to all the academic curricula of the University at UG level. All the faculty members perform their teaching duties and other responsibilities with due diligence as per the norms prescribed in the UGC regulations.
Right to Information (RTI) and Information delivery system of the InstitutionKamrup College, being a Government funded public institution, is subject to RTI Act, 2005. To ensure transparency and accountability, the College has put in place a proper information delivery mechanism. One senior most faculty of the College acts as the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the College. The PIO receives all types of RTI applications. On receipt of an RTI application, the PIO registers the matter in the RTI log book and seeks information from the concerned department or section in the College, as the case may be. The PIO ensures the timely reply of the RTI queries. The college has so far received and replied satisfactorily to several such queries within the stipulated time.

The Right to Information Act, 2005 has been enacted by the Parliament and has come into force from 15 June, 2005. This Act provides for right to information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority. All Universities and Colleges established by law made by Parliament or by State Legislature or by notification by the appropriate Government or owned, controlled or substantially financed directly or indirectly by funds provided by the Government shall come within the meaning of a Public Authority under this Act. Kamrup College has constituted the RTI Cell as per above Government norm & regulations to enable the students, citizens, and stakeholders to have the necessary access to the RTI related information/disclosures. Kmrup College RTI Cell makes speedy and timely disposal of the queries and grievances lodged by individuals or stakeholders from time to time. We assert in enabling the general public to have greater access to the domain of information systematically preserved by our office.
Application Procedure:The application may be type-written or neatly hand-written wherein atop Application under RTI Act 2005. The application may preferably be written through an e-mail and is accepted as a mode as per law and there is no such prescribed proforma for application. Applications will not be discarded on the ground that they were not in prescribed proforma. The application should be written in English or Assamese and be in a simple and easy language. Application is simply addressed to the Public Information Officer, Kamrup College [Do not mention name]
1.Mention your question question direct-point wise, avoid asking vague questions.
2. Avoid using too technical terms or legal terminology.
3. Attach Government RTI fee in the form of IPO/DD etc., as applicable with the RTI application.
4.At the end of the application, make a declaration that you are an Indian Citizen.
